Built from the trunk of a car.
Reflection Music Group was not built in a boardroom. It was built from the trunk of a car.
Co-founder Derek Minor started selling mixtapes on the streets of Nashville while studying Recording Industry Management at Middle Tennessee State University. That hustle led to a deal with Reach Records, where he toured alongside some of Christian hip hop's biggest names, including Lecrae, on the Unashamed Tour and Winter Jam. Along the way, Derek contributed to multiple Grammy Award-winning projects, brought home Dove and Stellar Awards, and released albums that cracked Billboard charts and hit number one on iTunes.
Co-founder Doc Watson came up through military service, radio, and independent artist development, building a reputation for putting artists first, engineering careers behind the scenes, and producing results. His fingerprints are on millions of streams, chart-topping releases, and landmark events from South By Southwest to the Gospel Music Association weekend.
Together, they built RMG around two simple ideas: hard work and fairness. That foundation grew into a full-service label and distribution company home to artists from around the world, including Canon, Parris Chariz, Torey D'Shaun, and Trendsetter Sense. Artists like Nissim Black and Jon Keith built careers here and carried that momentum into their next chapters. That is by design.
That is still exactly what we do.
